Hi everyone, The company I work for has switched from hardware provider Dell to Lenovo. With the Dell computers came Windows OEM disks but Lenovo doesn’t deliver such disks. Lenovo has a preinstall with an option for recovery disks. Now I've 2 problems with that: 1. There is a lot of software that we don't need (like Norton) or I rather see not having our user’s access to (like Lenovo Advantage). So a clean disk installation would be best.

When reinstalling a pc by recovery, all updates needs to be installed again and that's quite a lot in a few months. And when applying that much at once it often goes wrong so they have to be installed manually. The problem with Lenovo is that there is no certificate in the $oem$ folder on the installed computer (like there is by Dell) whereby I cannot create an OEM disk myself. With the Dell disk I created an installation (USB) where I slipstreamed the updates and installed the software with a script. Installation takes 1,5hour with only 20 minutes of my time taken. When calling Lenovo about this they tell me to ask Microsoft for the OEM certificate or disk.

Is there a way to create an OEM disk (have an OEM key) or does anyone know another way for easy clean installation? I'm a non-corporate user of a Lenovo ThinkPad and use the built-in 'Lenovo Rescue and Recovery' GUI application for my backups. I needed to know some of the command-line options for the programs controlled by the GUI, and found the following publications useful: In those manuals, there's several pages devoted to something arcane (well, I don't understand it) called a 'Sysprep backup', which sounds like a method to install all the OS and software modifications wanted, and then make a backup image that, once restored, will boot the user into the out-of-the-box situation of choosing an account name, password, etc.
