It is the fruition of striking a balance between rejuvenated fundamentals of classical manuscripts, the fresh knowledge rich curriculum and tailored resource package with outstanding transparencies. It combines the strong foundation of basic core elements of orthodontic concepts, proper diagnosis and recognition of problems and exposure to treatment strategies and methodologies.

It is a definite book for all dental undergraduates and an excellent supplement for all students undergoing postgraduate specialist training in orthodontics. Author by: Prashant P Jaju Language: en Publisher by: JP Medical Ltd Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 18 Total Download: 156 File Size: 55,9 Mb Description: Cone Beam Computed Tomography is an imaging technique in which x-rays diverge to form a cone. Cone Beam Computed Tomography: A Clinician’s Guide to 3D Imaging is a concise, highly illustrated manual on this increasingly important form of imaging in dentistry. Divided into twelve chapters, the book begins with a history of Cone Beam Computed Tomography, followed by chapters on the physics and apparatus of CBCT and the need for CBCT in dentistry. Further chapters cover the role of CBCT in specific sub-specialties of dentistry, and a glossary provides an explanation of CBCT terminology. The role of CBCT in prosthodontics, orthodontics and airway analysis, endodontics and caries diagnosis, oral and maxillofacial pathologies, periodontal disease and forensic odontology, is described in detail.

This was the?rst time the conference had been held in Canada. The proposal to host MICCAI 2003 originated from discussions within the Ontario Consortium for Ima- guided Therapy and Surgery, a multi-institutional research consortium that was supported by the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Ministry of E- erprise, Opportunity and Innovation. The objective of the conference was to o?er clinicians and scientists a - rum within which to exchange ideas in this exciting and rapidly growing?eld. MICCAI 2003 encompassed the state of the art in computer-assisted interv- tions, medical robotics, and medical-image processing, attracting experts from numerous multidisciplinary professions that included clinicians and surgeons, computer scientists, medical physicists, and mechanical, electrical and biome- cal engineers.

The quality and quantity of submitted papers were most impressive. For MICCAI 2003 we received a record 499 full submissions and 100 short c- munications. All full submissions, of 8 pages each, were reviewed by up to 5 reviewers, and the 2-page contributions were assessed by a small subcomm- tee of the Scienti?c Review Committee.

All reviews were then considered by the MICCAI 2003 Program Committee, resulting in the acceptance of 206 full papers and 25 short communications. The normal mode of presentation at MICCAI 2003 was as a poster; in addition, 49 papers were chosen for oral presentation. The presentation is systematic throughout the book and the basic concepts, procedures and practices have been succinctly explained through highlighted points, revision boxes, self-explanatory flowcharts, line-illustrations and tables. The book has been written keeping in mind the dual purpose of providing mode of answering any type of questions in university exams and simultaneously preparing the students to face competitive exams.

About the Author: - Sridhar Premkumar BDS, MDS, Assistant Professor, Department of Orthodontics, Tamilnadu Government Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, India. Author by: John G. Clement Language: en Publisher by: Elsevier Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 92 Total Download: 339 File Size: 45,9 Mb Description: This unique books looks at a cost-efficient, fast and accurate means of facial reconstruction-from segmented, decomposed, or skeletal remains-using computer-graphic and computational means.

Computer-Graphic Facial Reconstruction is designed as a valuable resource for those scientists designing new research projects and protocols, as well as a practical handbook of methods and techniques for medico-legal practitioners who actually identify the faceless victims of crime. It looks at a variety of approaches: artificial intelligence using neural networks, case-based reasoning, Baysian belief systems, along with a variety of imaging methods: radiological, CT, MRI and the use of imaging devices.

The methods described in this book complement, or may even replace, the less-reliable, more traditional means of securing identification by presumptive means, i.e., recognition of clothing, personal effects and clay reconstruction. Covers cutting-edge technologies in the context of historical forensic reconstruction methods - Features stellar authors from around the globe - Bridges the areas of computer graphics, animation, and forensic anthropology. Author by: Robert M. George Language: en Publisher by: Charles C Thomas Publisher Format Available: PDF, ePub, Mobi Total Read: 16 Total Download: 986 File Size: 43,8 Mb Description: Forensic art may be defined as 'portrait art minus a tangible subject.' The main objective of this book is to present a series of practical indices interrelating the key features of the human face that will provide a foundation for any exercise in forensic art from composite sketch to post-mortem 're-facing.'

These indices are illustrated with a survey of the numerous and often surprising geometric forms that permeate facial design. The various triangles and rectangles, rhomboids and trapezoids, parallelograms and circles that define the human face (the theme) and give it individuality (variations on the theme) are examined. The chapters provide necessary information to define the cephalometric points, planes, areas and lines that demarcate the human face, including the detailed surface anatomy of the eye, nose, mouth and ear. The underlying geometry of the human facial plan is revealed, illustrating a selection of triangles, rectangles, and other polygons. The graphic facial analysis (GFA) of the frontal face is covered, with sixteen indices and triangles defining and illustrating their means and ranges of variation. The GFA details the lateral face by means of eight angles and indices with special attention given to the nose and ear.
